Thank you for your interest in this rewarding service opportunity as an Al-Anon Member Involved in Alateen Service (AMIAS)!
Here are the steps to becoming an AMIAS for qualified Al-Anon members:
1. Click here and complete the AMIAS application form, then push Submit.
2. Ask 2 members of Al-Anon to go here and complete and submit their references.
3. Email a copy of your license to alateenarea24pc@gmail.com.
Once the three items above are received, you will get an email from the Alateen Area Professional Person (AAPP) regarding background checks.
4. Have your background check done. After your fingerprints are taken, it usually takes about 2 weeks for the results to be returned to the AAPP. You will need to pay the required fee and can request reimbursement from the Area Treasurer; instructions will be provided along with the form.
5. Attend AMIAS training (Note: you can attend training anytime after completing items 1, 2, and 3). Send an email to alateenarea24ac@gmail.com to find out the date of the next training session.
After completing all the steps mentioned above, the AAPP will enter your information into the WSO online database. If approved, the WSO will assign you an official WSO number, which usually takes 7-10 days. The AAPP will notify you via email that you are certified to be an AMIAS in Area 24.
Important!!
Your certification is not complete until you receive notification with your WSO ID. You cannot attend an Alateen meeting until you receive this notification.
