How to Become an AMIAS

Thank you for your interest in this rewarding service opportunity! 

Requirements:

• 21 + years of age
• Al-Anon member for 2 + years (not including time spent in Alateen)
• Attend Al-Anon regularly (suggest 1/week minimum)
• Have a sponsor (recommended)
• Have worked. or in the process of working the 12 steps of Al-Anon and familiar with the Traditions and Concepts of the program
• Familiar with the Area 24 Safety and Behavioral Requirements and Procedures
• No felony convictions or charges of child abuse/inappropriate sexual behavior, etc
• No demonstration of emotional problems which could result in harm to Alateen members.
• Willing to submit to a Federal and local background check
• Willing to work at least 1 Alateen meeting per month.

All AMIAS must recertify annually!  

Your certification is only active until the end of June each year.

Steps for Recertification:

1. Submit the on-line recert request:  click here.
2. Send an email with your requested training date to alateenarea24ac@gmail.com 
3. You will receive an email with a zoom link before the training begins.

3 training sessions will be offered each Spring. 

You must participate in a training to continue as an AMIAS.

Thursday March 19 @ 7:00 PM

Saturday 3/28 @ 10 AM

Monday 4/20 @ 7:00 PM
